Introduction

This Web-site is not about the history of the Army Security Agency. You can get that by searching for the numerous Web sites available on the Internet.

This is about my memories in the ASA, from 1966 to 1970. It tells about some of my exploits experienced while in Basic Training, AIT, and three different duty stations throughout this time period.

This Web site is dedicated to the many men and women who served not only in the intelligence-gathering portion of the armed forces, but at the National Agencies as well - in the late-sixties and early-seventies. This is my story of spending four years in the Army ASA during that interesting and somewhat deadly "Snapshot in Time." I never got to a combat zone - just supporting it from Sanctuary. Yeah, a "chair-borne Ranger" back in the rear with the beer and the gear! I spent my time “shaggin dits” at Shemya, Is., Vint Hill Farms Station, and Kagnew Station - at Asmara, Eritrea.

The friendships made during those years have stayed very vivid, and will certainly be with me for the rest of my life! - - - - - - Terry Hicks, CW03, Ret, USA
